Who Pays the Price? Gender Inequality and Sovereign Debt 

Across 85 developing countries, rising debt repayment costs disproportionately reduce women’s employment, shrink their income, and increase maternal mortality, while men’s outcomes remain largely unchanged. The study shows that how governments manage debt matters more than the size of the debt itself.
